Friends for the long haul?

Covid-19 has brought so much change to the world around us, like the way we see our friends and maybe even form new relationships. This is a little bit about my story and how I've maintained my friendships in a time when I can't physically see some of my favorite people.

I'm a social butterfly, Ive always been one. If we were to go out, I'd be the person making friends with the next table over and getting free drinks because the bartenders know me, but thats changed. In February at the start of this pandemic I was quarantined in Quebec, If I haven't previously mentioned I'm a Florida girl born and raised in the sunshine. Granted, My family is Canadian so I've had a kickass support system up here but, life isn't the same. I haven't been able to work, go out and much less travel to Florida to collect my belongings and see my people, but that won't stop me from missing them like crazy and trying my absolute hardest to stay connected. So here are a few things I do to keep myself grounded in a time of uncertainty.

This may be hard to believe, but I am an awful texter. I will read your text message as it comes in and entirely forget it because I am like a tornado, always moving. So anyone who texts me knows that if I don't respond, send me multiple message! So because of my busy tendencies texting has to be conscious I have to be there, fully engaged, and thats difficult! So we've found ways to improvise. I have two very best friends whom I miss dearly but, we all have our own lives. This makes finding time a struggle

Here are a few ways I try to keep in touch.

I've found that planning in advance helps a bunch! Theres absolutely no shame in penciling in a FaceTime date with your best friend, we aim for one night a week for wine and a movie. This is great because we both get a break and do something that we've always loved doing together. I also really love the quick phone calls in the car, as you stroll through a store or much more often in the school pickup line. These along with a mix of cute IG posts or just snaps of life around us has really been a tool in maintaining that healthy bond as our lives change from different countries.

Use your social media and stay connected!

I guess the point of this post being that regardless of whats going on we have to try and find ways to stay connected because life gets rough sometimes. We need people that truly know us to pull us back up.

Kisses,

T
